Alice Macdonald, Practice, 2023

£320.00

Watercolour on paper, 20 x 15cm

Alice Macdonald is an emerging, London-based artist whose diaristic paintings are informed by a broad range of sources spanning historical literature, classic films, myths, fairytales, and friends and family painted from life. Fascinated by the complexities of human behaviour, emotion and relationships, she is attracted to the cinematic and the melodramatic, as well as the idea of role-playing.

Alice’s jewel-like works on paper form a core part of her practice, their smaller scale lending them an intense quality. This unframed watercolour is a tender portrait of Alice’s brother, also an artist, deep in concentration whilst playing his guitar. Like many of Alice’s works, this lively study was painted from life; the foliage weaving around the figure adds a sense of mysticism.

Purchased works are usually despatched within three working days.
