Alice Macdonald, Sunlight on the Water, 2024

£425.00

Watercolour and acrylic on paper, 19 × 28cm

Alice Macdonald is an emerging, London-based artist whose diaristic paintings are informed by a broad range of sources spanning historical literature, classic films, myths, fairytales, and friends and family painted from life. Fascinated by the complexities of human emotions and relationships, she is attracted to the cinematic and the melodramatic, as well as the idea of role-playing.

Alice’s jewel-like works on paper form a core part of her practice, their smaller scale lending them an intense, voyeuristic quality. This unframed painting on paper is one of a series painted from drawings made from on the beach in Suffolk, England. Sunlit bodies of water - whether rivers in Oxfordshire, the sea in Scotland, or the Thames, which flows near her studio - are explored regularly by the artist in her imagery.

Purchased works are usually despatched within three working days.
