Amsterdam-born artist Bobbye Fermie is renowned for her dreamlike works on paper that explore introspective female figures inhabiting imaginary spaces. Inspired by memories and photographs, her work is characterised by a limited palette which creates impact and lends each image a graphic quality.
This framed, collage and watercolour piece by Bobbye is closely related to a pair of woodcuts from her ‘Tales from the Home’ series of limited edition prints. Inspired by a window that the artist saw in a Dutch painting, the work features an intricately collaged pitched roof which frames the artist’s couple who are absorbed in their late-night dance. The collaged tree, which we peer through in the foreground, gives the scene a voyeuristic quality. This unique work is framed in sapele wood behind anti-reflective, 70% UV resistant glass.
