Liane Lang RA, Whaler, 2023 (framed)

£880.00

Unique ink and transfer print, 25.5 x 18cm

Germany-born artist Liane Lang’s practice explores iconoclasm and legacy. Working across film, performance, printmaking and sculpture, she uses mannequins, models and photographic imagery of the body in her work to draw attention to historical representations of the female, and humankind’s relationship with the past.

This framed, unique work is one of a group of monoprints that use photographs taken by the artist in Antarctica as their starting point. Liane then worked with models and dancers to create layered images using ink and an emulsion transfer technique, resulting in subtly rippled surface texture. Discarded industrial objects within the pristine Antarctic landscape feature in many of the images - in this case - a rusted whaling ship.

Purchased works are usually despatched within three working days.
