Oopsy Jones, Over. It. (Or….Petrol Station Pasties), 2026

£750.00

Glazed ceramic, 16 x 16 x 40cm

Oopsy Jones is a self-taught contemporary artist whose impactful ceramic sculptures explore a range of subject matter spanning Greek mythology, medieval relics and Baywatch. Having been diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder in 2015, he was urged to pursue creative forms of therapy; it was these therapeutic experiences which have formed the basis of his artistic practice.

Oopsy’s sculptures - which are both weighty and playful - combine deceptively childlike forms, text and mischievous humour to bring his psychotic episodes to life. This unique work was made for our group exhibition ‘Music From Out There’ (16 January - 14 February 2026) It is part of a series titled ‘Icarus's Intergalactic Gap Year Trip-tych’, which, in the artist’s words, is ‘an examination of how Icarus and his engineer dad, Daedalus, would have used contemporary technology to improve their travel plans.

He says; ‘After a series of petty arguments, Icarus and the Minotaur sadly go their separate ways. Icarus should be feeling on top of the world but misses not only his friend but a simpler and oddly more fulfilling way of life on earth. Maybe space travel isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? Icarus misses home.’

Oopsy’s ceramics were first showcased at a solo exhibition in 4COSE Gallery, East London, in 2025. His works are held in collections in the UK and internationally, and he has undertaken numerous commissions for collectors. He is based in Hertfordshire.
