Suzanne Moxhay’s complex images use archival or newly-taken photographs as their starting point. Combining a variety of low and high-tech techniques, her digital photomontages and etchings explore interior and exterior spaces that, in the artist’s words, ‘feel as though they have broken down and perhaps been re-claimed’.

Suzanne’s practice is informed by an interest in film-making, and strong light sources play a key role in creating drama. ‘There’s always been a bit of a play in my work between what’s inside and outside, both in literal and psychological terms. In films the sets and scenes are often used in a way to try and describe the psychology of the character or something to do with the story; that’s always interested me.’

This framed limited edition print is the ninth work in an ongoing series titled ‘Entrance’’, and is a key work in our 2025 solo exhibition of work by the artist titled ‘Thresholds’. With its earthy palette, it perfectly conjures the artist’s ability to provide the viewer with multiple entry points (in the form of doorways and mirrored reflections) to project - or suggest - what lies beyond.

A white border of approx. 5-7cm is included in the stated paper size and all prints are signed on this border - please see example image below.

Suzanne studied at Chelsea College of Art and The Royal Academy Schools, graduating in 2007. She has exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally since 2002 and her work is held in many significant public and private collections including the University of the Arts Collection, The Royal Academy of Arts, The Cooper Union New York, and Oxford University. She has featured in numerous publications including The Guardian, The FT, A-N Magazine and Art World Magazine and has been profiled and interviewed on the BBC Culture Show. Oliver Projects presented Suzanne’s work at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in 2021, 2022 and 2023. She lives and works in south east London.
