Suzanne Moxhay’s complex images use archival or newly-taken photographs as their starting point. Combining a variety of low and high-tech techniques, her digital photomontages and etchings explore interior and exterior spaces that, in the artist’s words, ‘feel as though they have broken down and perhaps been re-claimed’.
Photographs of an abandoned villa on Rhodes, Greece, were the starting point for this light-drenched scene. In this case, it is not the colour of the archway itself that lends the work its title, but rather the foliage that encroaches upon the decrepit walls around it. This work is printed with a white border (please see installation image).
