Temsuyanger Longkumer, Travelling Forests (Terracotta, 9), 2024
Terracotta, 9 x 7 x 7cm.
Temsüyanger Longkumer is a multimedia artist whose artistic practice spans video, sculpture, site-specific installation, printmaking and painting. Profoundly influenced by his upbringing in Nagaland, Northeast India, his work explores - in his words - ‘the socio-cultural traditions in ethnic societies, and the correlation between communities in the microbial world and our own.’
This is one of a set of pairs of smaller-scale terracotta sculptures exhibited in our March 2014 exhibition ‘Drop Shadows’ held at Sims Reed Gallery. Temsuyanger says; ‘‘These pairs of feet are poised to embark on individual journeys of exploration and discovery. As they separate from the collective, each pair ventures out to traverse new landscapes. These wandering feet symbolize the nomadic spirit inherent in both human beings and plants, echoing the eternal quest for new experiences’.
Purchased works are usually despatched within three working days.
