Temsuyanger Longkumer, Travelling Forests XI , 2024

£350.00

Etching, 22.5 × 16cm edition of 30

Temsüyanger Longkumer is a multimedia artist whose artistic practice spans video, sculpture, site-specific installation, printmaking and painting. Profoundly influenced by his upbringing in Nagaland, Northeast India, his work explores - in his words - ‘the socio-cultural traditions in ethnic societies, and the correlation between communities in the microbial world and our own.’

Continuing the themes explored in his ‘Travelling Forest’ terracotta sculptures, this magical image takes the recurring motif of a pair of sturdy feet, which appear - with the help of wing-like tree branches- capable of flight. The artist describes the series as ‘taking inspiration from migratory plants that employ intricate strategies, serving both as prey and predator to ensure survival during their journeys.’

Purchased works are usually despatched within three working days.
