Temsuyanger Longkumer, Wayfarers I (Travelling Forest Series), 2024
Etching, 22.5 × 16cm, edition of 30
Temsüyanger Longkumer is a multimedia artist whose artistic practice spans video, sculpture, site-specific installation, printmaking and painting. Profoundly influenced by his upbringing in Nagaland, Northeast India, his work explores - in his words - ‘the socio-cultural traditions in ethnic societies, and the correlation between communities in the microbial world and our own.’
Continuing the themes explored in his ‘Travelling Forest’ terracotta sculptures, this delicate golden image printed onto black paper features the same sturdy feet morphing into an egg-shaped tree. Temsuyanger says; ‘These feet are poised to embark on individual journeys of exploration and discovery, symbolising the nomadic spirit inherent in both human beings and plants, echoing the eternal quest for new experiences’.
Purchased works are usually despatched within three working days.
