Oopsy Jones
Oopsy Jones is a self-taught contemporary artist whose impactful ceramic sculptures explore a range of subject matter spanning Greek mythology, medieval relics and Baywatch. Having been diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder in 2015, he was urged to pursue creative forms of therapy; it was these therapeutic experiences which have formed the basis of his artistic practice.
Oopsy pursued painting before moving into ceramics at the end of 2024 having tried his hand at a local studio. Inspired by the psychotic episodes caused by his illness - during which he believes he is Dionysus (the immortal Greek god of debauchery) - he began to seek, in his words, ‘to pluck the psychosis out of my mind and make it solid’. The resulting sculptures - which are both weighty and playful - combine deceptively childlike forms, text and mischievous humour to bring his episodes to life. In addition, he hopes that his work will raise awareness around psychosis, and challenge the stigma associated with Bipolar Affective Disorder.
Oopsy’s ceramics were first showcased at a solo exhibition in 4COSE Gallery, East London, in 2025. His works are held in collections in the UK and internationally, and he has undertaken numerous commissions for collectors. He is based in Hertfordshire.
We are looking forward to showing new work by Oopsy in January 2026. Register your interest.
